Future of Healthcare (FoH) Newsletter #1 Published
Exploring the Future of AI-Enabled Healthcare

We are pleased to announce the publication of the first newsletter of the Future of Healthcare (FoH) Erasmus+ project. The newsletter provides an overview of the project’s objectives, partnership, and ongoing activities aimed at preparing healthcare professionals for the rapidly evolving digital healthcare landscape.
As healthcare systems increasingly adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, and digital health technologies, new competencies are becoming essential for healthcare professionals. The FoH project responds to these challenges by developing innovative educational approaches that combine AI literacy with human-centred healthcare values, ethical awareness, communication, and teamwork.

What Is the FoH Project?
The Future of Healthcare (FoH) project brings together partners from Ireland, Czechia, Poland, Italy, and Türkiye to strengthen vocational education and training in the healthcare sector.
The project aims to:
- Develop AI competencies for healthcare professionals.
- Promote responsible and ethical use of AI technologies.
- Create innovative educational resources and digital learning tools.
- Strengthen communication, teamwork, and patient-centred care skills.
- Support healthcare education in responding to labour market needs and digital transformation.
Through international cooperation, the project will develop the FoH Framework, an online learning platform, and practical training opportunities for current and future healthcare professionals.
Focus Groups Reveal Emerging Skills Needs
A major milestone highlighted in the newsletter is the implementation of international focus groups conducted across partner countries during March and April 2026.
Healthcare professionals, educators, and vocational training experts discussed how AI is currently being used in healthcare and identified the competencies required for successful and responsible integration of AI technologies.
The discussions revealed several important findings:
- AI is increasingly used as a support tool rather than a replacement for professional expertise.
- Digital and AI-related competencies are becoming essential for healthcare careers.
- Trust in AI depends on user knowledge, transparency, and experience.
- Effective patient communication remains a critical professional skill.
- Ethical and legal considerations must remain central to AI implementation.
These findings will directly contribute to the development of the FoH Framework and future training modules.
Together, we are building the future of healthcare education through innovation, ethics, and human-centred AI.
